TEAM XPREZO BACK FROM THE WHISTLER CRANKWORX

The entire XPREZO team is just coming back from a big trip out west in beautiful Whistler, BC, where they've spent the past 10 days at the Whistler CRANKWORX, the biggest bike festival in the world.

Antoine Larose, Jonathan Allard, David Dionne, Mark Wood, Philippe Benoit and Hugo Bardou were all there together to present and offer a test ride of our Canadian hand made bikes to anyone interested… The feed back was more than positive, for the second year in a row. We had the chance to meet up with many locals who are really implicated and dedicated to the development of the sport in that part of the country. It was a great opportunity to exchange about the sport and create new relationships with passionate riders…

XPREZO BC athletes Chad Hendren and James McSkimming were also shredding the mountain participating in a few events… James came out with a sick performance in the Garbonzo DH race paling 24 in the Elite category with a time of 14'24"... It was it's 4th time on his bike this season, after recovering from a major big toe surgery he undergone a few months ago... Master Chad Hendren placed 6th with a time of 15'34" after crashing on wet wood bridges… He was pretty bummed… Phil Benoit, XPREZO production manager, placed 13th with a time of 16minutes flat. He was happy with his run…

The next gravity event at our schedule is the Bromont Canada Cup, hosted at our home resort, this week-end, August 20th to 22nd… The XPREZO-Borsao DH crew will be racing hard !
So see you out there!

XPREZO ON THE ROAD RACING CIRCUIT

After getting great exposure on the XC and DH canadian scenes, XPREZO-BORSAO team athletes are now hitting the road racing circuit. In June, sprinter Aroussen Laflamme completed the Tour de Beauce wearing Team Spirit's colors.

In July, Éric Alain and David Dionne both worked together at the Coupe des Ameriques to help the leader, Thierry Laliberté, who won one stage on top of finishing third at the last stage and 4th overall.

On July 6, Laliberé placed 3rd at the popular and prestigious "Criterium des Mardis de Lachine". We're happy to pass the invitation for August 3rd and 17th stages of "Les Mardis de Lachine", as Xprezo-Borsao team riders will do their best to help Laliberté secure a great overall ranking. Aroussen's help will also be greatly appreciated, as he's reknown for being particularly good during criterium type races.

MATT HADLEY TAKES 4th PLACE AT THE CANADIAN CHAMPS

The Canmore Nordic Ski and Mountain Bike Center was host of the Canadian XC Championships, a very important race for Matt Hadley's (Xprezo-Borsao) selection for the World Championships which will be held at Mt-Ste-Anne this year.

A top 5 position was important. While Geoff Kabush (Maxxis-Rocky Mountain), Max Plaxton (Team Sho-Air/Specialized) and Derek Zandstra (3 Rox Racing) are leading the series and all three were fighting for a first place finish, it was no surprise to see them leave the pack behind right into the first lap, and secure each of the first 3 steps of the podium.

A small pack of 4 riders lead by Raphaël Gagné and Kris Sneddon, was chasing right behind, aiming for the 4th and 5th places and Hadley was catching up on that pack, in 8th place. With 4 laps to go, he managed to pass those 4 guys, one by one, and finished sprinting his way to the 4 place against Kris Sneddon (KONA), beating him by 3 seconds !

A very exciting race, with live coverage on the web, for Xprezo-Borsao and Matt Hadley's fans.
Hoping to see you guys at MSA !

XPREZO-BORSAO ATHLETES GET GOOD RESULTS AT PANORAMA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS.

Last week-end was the Canadian National Championship in Panorama, British Colombia. XPREZO rider Anne Laplante finished in sixth position, best Quebec rider, disappointed with her result knowing she could have done better in some parts of the course. She learned a lot and will be angrier for next week-end's Canada Cup still in Panorama, BC. For this event our athletes have been supported by the Quebec MTB team.

In the men, XPREZO rider Benoit Rioux put a good run together ending up in 8th place. He was also the best rider form the Quebec province. He was pretty happy of his performance and he's getting great confidence for the upcoming week-end's race.

The Quebec team now heading up to Golden, BC, for a few days of riding and training at Kicking Horse Resort. Then back in Panorama by the end of the week for the second race of the project. Antoine Larose is coaching the team while Maxime Gabriel is making sure everybody's bike is in perfect condition. We will give you an update shortly with a few pictures from the beautiful rocky mountains of BC…

Cheers form the Quebec and XPREZO-BORSAO Teams.

XPREZO'S B.C. RIDERS READY TO RACE !

Cycles Xprezo’s western Canadian mountain bike racers are set to start their season this month in a big way, with Xprezo Factory superstar Matt Hadley of Kamloops heading to Europe for the first two UCI MTB World Cups, along with Sandra Walter of the Xprezo-sponsored Local Ride Women’s MTB Team. The two will contest World Cup #1 in Dalby Forest, England on April 25 and World Cup #2 in Houffalize, Belgium on May 2 before heading back to Canada for the first three Canada Cups in Quebec and Ontario.

«I am very excited to be heading to Europe to race,» said Hadley, who will be testing his legs at an England Cup event on April 18, before facing the world’s best on the London 2012 Olympic course in Dalby Forest the following weekend. «I am looking forward to ripping it up on my new Xprezo!»

Walter was selected to represent Canada with the Canadian National Team for the two first World Cups. «I was ecstatic when I got the call that I was invited to race with the National Team,» said Walter. «It’s always such an honour to wear the Canadian jersey, especially when I’m racing overseas.»

The 30-year-old Coquitlam, BC native has already seen success on the race course this season, winning the Island Cup #2 MTB race in Port Alberni, BC on March 21, and riding in support of her Local Ride Racing road team mates in two dEVo Spring Series road races in Langley, BC, alongside fellow Local Ride Women’s MTB team mate Jean Ann McKirdy of Maple Ridge.

«I’ve been having fun racing road with the team this spring,» said McKirdy, «but I’m really looking forward to my first mountain bike races on my new pink Xprezo T-4!» McKirdy’s first off-road races will be an Island Cup on April 25 in Parksville, and BC Cup #1 May 8. McKirdy will join Walter in Eastern Canada for Canada Cup #1 in Baie-St-Paul, QC on May 16, Canada Cup #2 in Mont Tremblant, QC on May 22, and Canada Cup #3 at Hardwood Ski and Bike on May 30.

The Local Ride Women’s MTB Team recently received their flashy pink Xprezo T-4 hardtail frames, which are new to the Xprezo line for 2010. McKirdy and Walter were integral in the R&D of the handmade frames last year. The frames are built in Bromont, QC with Columbus Zona tubesets. “They’re beautiful bikes,” said Walter. “They really stand out and I’m super excited to race mine this season.”

TRAINING CAMP IN VEGAS

The XPREZO DH team is just coming back from a special training camp in Las Vegas, with Goeff Pendrel, coach of the Canadian national DH team. The goal of this intensive training session was to prepare our riders for the very important 2010 season, which includes the World Campionships on Canadian ground. Needless to say our athletes hope they can do good at home...

Anne Laplante, Benoit Rioux and Antoine Larose took this opportunity to fine tune their new XPREZO Furax bikes and get in touch with the National Team members.

The Boothleg Canion training camp, in Boulder City, is roughly 40 minutes drive from Las Vegas, and offers different types of trails. The race course, which is roughly 3:25 minutes form top to bottom, allowed us to improve riding skills and race strategies.

No trees, lots of sand and sharp rocks in a desert region, it's been a great experience to ride in sunny, warm and dry conditions in the middle of January, along with some of Canada's best DH riders.

NEW ZEALAND TEAM RED DOG RIDING XPREZO

Red Dog Racing is a New Zealand based downhill race team composed of two Pro-Elite riders Dan Sims and James Rennie. The team is backed by both National and International sponsors and without their support this venture wouldn’t have been possible, so thanks heaps!

Red Dog Racing is also the only source of Xprezo Bikes in New Zealand so if you want to get your hands on one of these beautifully made bikes email us at reddogracing@gmail.com and be sure to check out their full range by clicking on their link on the left.

The 2010 NZ national series kicked off in the South Island city of Christchurch, this was to be Red Dog Racing's debut with riders James and Dan showcasing their new bikes courtesy of Xprezo and Thor kits which were custom printed by Infamous Designs.

With the bikes arriving just before Christmas there wasn’t much time to get used to the new machines, but first impression were that the bikes have excellent geometry and should show some good speed once the team gets them dialled in. For the weight weenies out there, the bikes weight in at 39 pounds.
